Musician / Educator / Inventor / Composer
Mr. Alejandro (Alex) Gonzalez received his Music Education Degree from Texas State University - San Marcos and has 15+ years teaching in Texas Public Schools. Mr. Gonzalez is the inventor of the new percussion practice pad community table known as the P-1000. His book Magical Mallet Melodies contains 5 progressive keyboard trios and is now available through Tapspace.com.
Mr. Gonzalez writes original music and arranges music for percussion ensembles, marching percussion, and concert band. He currently has 3 supplemental resources containing audio files and other digital media to help band directors teach percussion.
While in Round Rock ISD, He taught for five years at Walsh Middle School under the direction of Jennifer Bergeron. During this period, the Walsh Band taped and earned the right to perform at the 2021 Midwest Clinic and the 2024 Music for All National Concert Band Festival. During his years in Killeen ISD, he served as an assistant band/percussion director for C.E. Ellison High School and opened Roy J. Smith middle school as head band director in 2016. In his seven teaching middle school band, Mr. Gonzalez’s Varsity, NV and SNV bands have consistently received superior ratings at UIL.
Mr. Gonzalez is currently touring the P-1000 in the Austin, San Antonio and Rio Grande Valley areas of Texas. He loves working and sharing ideas with students and colleagues to build fun and engaging memories around practicing percussion. When He is not working on his creations or teaching, Mr. Gonzalez loves cooking, hiking and kayaking, gardening and raising his puppy, cats and chickens.
